Your Story matters!

Individuality is based on traits and qualities that set you apart from those around you and create unique characteristics among groups of people.

Many factors can create barriers between healthcare providers and patients. Language, beliefs, and eye contact are a few examples.

In Chinese culture, White chrysanthemums are considered bad luck. This may not seem like a big deal but they also are associated with death and if placed in a room with Chinese patients it can create a barrier and prevent the standard of care given to a patient. Remember when I told you cultural awareness matters? This is one of those times.
